I am an Indian writer and poet, hailing from the historic city of Pune and currently residing in Dubai. Having cherished a dream to become a writer since the age of 10, I published my first novel, crime thriller ‘The Man in the Trench Coat’ at the age of 23. It was received well by critics and went on to be nominated for ‘Best Thriller of the Year 2017’ by Salis Magazine. Apart from this, I have written a number of short stories and award-winning poetry and am presently working on multiple story ideas.
I inherited a passion for history and mythology from my grandfather, renowned Marathi folk singer, bard and freedom fighter, ShahirMaharshi R. D. Dixit. I believe that it is important to know and understand history, mythology and different cultures to understand humanity and learn from the past. With this in mind I decided to combine history, mythology and philosophy with my lifelong love for literature and created Words and Swords.
The blog aims to promote discussion about various fascinating aspects of Indian and world history and mythology, as well as talks about related works of fiction. It is my hope that it will inspire us to study and understand our glorious (and at times, flawed) past, as a path towards ultimately creating a better future.
